Privacy Policy
The Egyptian Theatre Preservation Association ("ETPA," "we," "us," or "our") is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that operates the historic Egyptian Theatre at 229 S. Broadway, Coos Bay, Oregon. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect on our website, how we use it, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it in plain language.
This policy applies to the Egyptian Theatre website and the services offered under the egyptiantheatre.events domain (and www.egyptiantheatre.events).
Information we collect
- Information you give us. When you sign up to volunteer, ask about a rental, join as a member, or otherwise contact us, we collect what you enter — typically your name and email address, and your phone number if you choose to provide it.
- Payment information. Donations and memberships are processed by our payment provider, Zeffy (see below). Your card details are entered into Zeffy's form and are handled by Zeffy — we never receive or store the card information you enter there.
- Ticket purchases. When you buy tickets online, the checkout pages are run for us by our ticketing provider, Ready Theatre Systems (RTS), which collects your order details on ETPA's behalf: your email address, your billing address and postal code, the name on your card (and your name, if the checkout asks for it), and your order (which show, which tickets, and when). We use this to complete your order, hold your tickets at will-call, and send your confirmation or receipt. Your card number, expiration date, and security code are entered on the ticketing provider's checkout and handled by RTS and our payment processor — our website does not receive or store your card number.
- Basic visit information. Our own lightweight visit counter records the page you viewed, the name of the website that referred you (just the site's address, such as google.com, not the full link), your browser's user-agent string (which identifies your browser and device type), and your IP address, so we can understand how many people use the site and which pages are popular. Unless you have opted out (see Analytics, advertising, and your choices), it also notes how the visit arrived (for example search, social media, an email, or an ad) and, if you followed a tagged link from one of our ads or emails, that campaign's name. This is the same arrival information described under Event interest below. We keep these records for about 90 days. To show the approximate location of visits (city, region, and country) in our staff visit statistics, we send visitor IP addresses to a geolocation service, ipwho.is. We keep each location result, together with the IP address it belongs to, for up to 180 days so the same address isn't looked up again, and then delete it. These location records don't include which pages you viewed.
- Event interest. The same counter notes which events on our schedule are shown, opened, added to a calendar, or have their ticket link clicked, along with how the visit arrived (for example search, social media, an email, or an ad campaign), so we can see which shows interest people and where to spend our marketing budget. These records do not include your IP address or any cookie. Your browser remembers how you arrived only until you close the tab. Nothing is recorded if you opt out (see Analytics, advertising, and your choices). We keep these records for about 90 days.
- Advertising measurement. To measure and improve the ads we run for the theatre, our pages include Google's advertising tag (Google Ads). When active it may set cookies and share limited information about your visit — such as your device, general location, and the pages you view — with Google. See Analytics, advertising, and your choices below, where you can opt out.
- Website analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how visitors find and use the site — pages viewed, how you arrived, and general location, device, and browser. Google Analytics sets its own cookies and processes this data on our behalf. See Analytics, advertising, and your choices below, where you can opt out.
Cookies and tracking
Apart from the Google Analytics and Google Ads tags described under Analytics, advertising, and your choices, the Egyptian Theatre website does not set its own cookies. Some features that we embed from other companies may set their own cookies or load their own scripts when you interact with them — for example the Zeffy donation and membership forms on our Donate and Join pages, and YouTube trailer players. Pages with a map, such as our home page and Plan Your Visit page, load Google Maps, which may set its own cookies. Our pages, and the online ticketing pages run for us by RTS, load fonts from Google Fonts, and the ticketing checkout may load a Cloudflare Turnstile bot check. Those are controlled by the third party and governed by that company's own privacy policy.
Analytics, advertising, and your choices
We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how our site is used (which pages are visited, how visitors arrive, and general location, device, and browser), and Google Ads to measure how well the ads we run for the theatre work — for example, whether an ad led someone to buy a ticket or sign up. To do this our pages load Google's tag, which may set cookies and send Google limited information about your visit, including your device type, approximate location, and the pages you view. Google may use this to report site statistics, measure ad conversions and, unless you opt out, build advertising audiences.
Your choices. These cookies are on by default, but you stay in control:
- Use the "Your Privacy Choices" link at the bottom of any page to opt out (or back in) at any time; your choice is stored on your device. Opting out also stops our own event-interest counts described above, and our visit counter no longer notes how your visit arrived.
- If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we automatically treat it as an opt-out.
- You can also manage Google's use of your data through Google My Ad Center.
Using advertising cookies may be considered "sharing" of personal information for "targeted advertising" under Oregon's and California's privacy laws. We do not sell your personal information for money, and you can opt out of this advertising sharing using the choices above.
Payment processing (Zeffy)
We use Zeffy, a payment platform built for non-profits, to process donations and membership purchases through forms embedded on our site. When you give or join, your payment is handled entirely by Zeffy; ETPA never sees or stores the card details you enter in Zeffy's form, and Zeffy issues your receipt. At checkout Zeffy may invite you to add an optional tip that supports Zeffy — that tip is separate from your gift to ETPA and is entirely optional. Zeffy's handling of your information is described in Zeffy's privacy policy.
How we use your information
- administer volunteer scheduling and respond to your inquiries;
- process donations and memberships (through Zeffy) and keep our organizational records;
- complete ticket orders (through RTS), hold tickets at will-call, and send order confirmations or receipts;
- send you communications you've asked for, such as newsletters, through our email provider;
- understand, in aggregate, how the website is used so we can improve it.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money. Aside from the advertising measurement described under Advertising and your choices (which some state laws treat as "sharing" for targeted advertising, and which you can opt out of), we share personal information only with the service providers we rely on to run the theatre and this site, limited to what they need to provide the service. Their own use of that information is governed by their own privacy policies. These providers include:
- Google — website analytics (Google Analytics) and advertising measurement / conversion tracking for the ads we run (Google Ads);
- Zeffy — donation and membership payment processing;
- Mailchimp — email newsletters and member/constituent communications (under Mailchimp's standard data-processing terms);
- Ready Theatre Systems (RTS) — online ticketing: RTS runs our ticket checkout pages and handles ticket orders on our behalf;
- Our payment processor — processes card payments for online ticket purchases;
- Cloudflare (Turnstile) — a bot check on the ticketing checkout page, which may collect technical information about your browser and device to tell people from automated traffic;
- Google Fonts — fonts loaded by our website and our ticketing pages, which sends Google your IP address and basic browser information when a font is requested;
- Google Maps — the maps on our home and Plan Your Visit pages, which send Google your IP address and browser information and may set Google's own cookies;
- ipwho.is — approximate location (city, region, country) for visitor IP addresses in our visit statistics;
- Microsoft Azure — website and application hosting;
- The Movie Database (TMDB) — film information and images.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of ETPA, our visitors, or others.
How long we keep information
- Volunteer information — kept as long as needed to administer volunteer scheduling.
- Member and donor records — kept indefinitely for historical, archival, and organizational record-keeping purposes.
- Visit records — kept for about 90 days, then deleted.
- Location lookups (an IP address with its approximate city, region, and country) — kept for up to 180 days, then deleted.
Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any newsletter. To opt out of analytics and advertising cookies, use the "Your Privacy Choices" link at the bottom of any page (see Analytics, advertising, and your choices). You may ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you — just contact us using the details below and we'll help. Because we're a small non-profit, the simplest way to reach a real person is to call or email.
Children's privacy
Our website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we'll remove it.
Other websites
Our site links to other websites (for example our ticketing provider, payment forms, and social media). We aren't responsible for the privacy practices of those sites; please review their policies.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the effective date at the top of the page.
